Race Report for 17th September 2006 BPKC Owner/Driver Summer Championship Round 5

Jessica Hawkins got the Honda cadet bandwagon underway when she beat Jack Aitken by over two seconds. She did the same in heat two but by a much smaller margin as George Wright chased her over the line mere hundredths adrift. Heat three found George way out front and with little competition. In the twelve lap final it was the usual cadet nose to tail race in which George Wright headed the order after the twelve laps. He took the win by a whisker from Jessica Hawkins while Callum Hardgrave finished a close third but sadly just outside the trophies.

  the biggest grid of the day and racing
  did not disappoint. In Honda Cadet Jessica Hawkins made a great start and led throughout the final to take a fine win from a tussling Mathew Duffett and Tyler Weedon.

Last race of the day was a new item on the program, a fun supplemental “Devil take the Hindmost” race for the cadets. Final finishing grid positions were reversed, the first place starting in last and last starting first. Single file start across the line with last two dropping out on every lap, this proved to be one of the best races of the day and one that will remain in place for Cadets for the future such was the drama and closeness of the youngsters racing. After 12 laps Louis Millar and Jessica Hawkins were nose to tail for the last lap racing to the line and no bets were being taken on who would win, at the line Millar on the new WTP just held off Honda shod Hawkins for a fantastic end to a great days racing.

Jessica Hawkins won the Honda cadet class and by a decent couple of seconds over Callum Hardgrave. It has to be said that the latter would have been the favorite with two heat wins to his credit, Jessica taking the other, but he was playing catch up in the final when he lost the lead on lap three. Bobby Thompson raced well all day and finished a close third.
